Spotlight: Jennifer Jenkins

It takes a certain panache to even approach an internationally acclaimed film director working on an intensely personal vision like The Truman Show, much less sell him on a major location change in a single sitting. But that’s Jennifer Jenkins.
“Peter Weir was originally in Seaside just to shoot some exteriors,” recalls Jenkins, marketing director for South Walton Tourist Development Council and the Seaside Community Development Corporation at the time. “He was planning to shoot the rest of the film on a sound stage. I just suggested shooting the whole thing right there in Seaside. And that’s what wound up happening.”
Drawing outside life’s lines is an integral part of Jennifer’s makeup. A graduate of Boston’s Simmons College, she has owned a wine bar. She has performed on tour for hearing impaired audiences with the Body Language Dance Company. She has served as account executive on major international business at O’Neal Communications, including Bayer Healthcare and Hewlett-Packard. And she has provided the same kind of outside-the-lines thinking and leadership at LKM on the North Carolina Division of Tourism and Film and Cargill Dow accounts.
